Recruiting Solutions is seeking a Medical Receptionist for a practice located in Downtown Columbia. This opportunity is temporary-hire and pays $12/hour.

Responsibilities:

    • OPEN OFFICE EVERY MORNING AND TAKE PHONES OFF SERVICE AT 9AM
    • SORT FAXES IN THE MORNING AND THROUGH THE DAY, ORGANIZE THE PATIENT RECORDS AND DISTRIBUTE TO THE CORRECT PHYSICIAN BOX, CHECK FOR NEW PATIENT REFERRALS AND ANY MEDICAL RECORD REQUESTS
    • ENTER PATIENT DEMOGRAPHICS INTO THE SYSTEM, THIS INCLUDES GUARANTOR, ASSOCIATIONS AND PHARMACY
    • COMMUNICATE TO THE MEDICAL ASSISTANT THE STATUS OF THEIR PATIENT UPON ARRIVAL
    • USE THE CHECK IN SCREEN AND CHECK OUT SCREEN IN THE PM SYSTEM TO KEEP THE SCHEDULE UPDATED AND CURRENT
    • PRINT SCHEDULES FOR THE NEXT DAY WORK THEM UP FOR COPAY, BALANCE AND REFERRAL.
    • TOTAL REFERRAL LOG BY DAY, WEEK, MONTH AND YEAR
    • GREET AND CHECK IN PATIENTS UPON ARRIVAL, GIVE THEM THE CORRECT FORMS TO COMPLETE, SCAN INSURANCE CARDS WITH A PHOTO ID
    • ANSWER ALL PHONE LINES WITH A GREETING AND ANNOUNCE YOUR NAME, OBTAIN INFORMATION AND DIRECT CALLS APPROPRIATELY.
    • MAKE NEW PATIENT PACKETS AND ANY OTHER PACKETS NEEDED
    • SCHEDULE PROCEDURES (I.E.CT’S, MRI, BARIUM SWALLOW, SLEEP STUDIES ETC.)
    • REFER PATIENTS TO OTHER PHYSICIAN OFFICES AND SEND RECORDS
    • SCHEDULE, RESCHEDULE AND CANCEL APPOINTMENTS
    • BLOCK DOCTORS SCHEDULES FOR UPCOMING MONTHS
    • BLOCK AND RESCHEDULE PATIENTS FOR DAYS THE PHYSICIANS ARE OUT OF THE OFFICE
    • SORT AND DISTRIBUTE MAIL
    • TAKE MESSAGES FOR STAFF
    • RETURN PATIENT CALLS
    • CLEAN WAITING ROOM AT THE END OF THE DAY, WIPE FURNITURE AND DOOR KNOBS WITH ANTIBACTERIAL WIPES
    • CHECK OUT PATIENTS
    • COLLECT CO-PAYS, PRE OP AMOUNTS AND/OR PATIENT BALANCES
    • POST MONEY COLLECTED FROM PATIENT VISITS
    • CHECK VOICE MAIL AND RETURN CALLS
    • HELP WITH PATIENT BILLING QUESTIONS
    • COLLECT PAYMENTS FOR HEARING AID PATIENTS AND LOG IN THE PHAA LOG BOOK
    • DISTRIBUTE DOMES OR OTHER HEARING AID MATERIALS TO PHAA PATIENTS
    • TAKE PAYMENTS OVER THE PHONE AND POST TO PATIENT ACCOUNTS
    • FAX ALL ORDERS TO CORRECT LOCATIONS AFTER BEING PRECERTED, IF LOCATION IS PRECERTING, FAX THE ORDER AND NOTES
    • MEDICAL RECORDS: COPY ALL REQUESTED RECORDS, IF ABLE TO CHARGE, GIVE TO NICOLE TO PUT CHARGE IN THE SYSTEM
    • TAKE HOSPITAL CONSULTS AND GIVE TO CORRECT DOCTOR OR ASSISTANT
    • COPY "ON CALL" CALENDAR AND GIVE TO EVERYONE THAT NEEDS IT
    • CONFIRM APPOINTMENTS FOR THE NEXT DAY
    • CONTACT PATIENTS AFTER RECEIVING REFERRAL FORM OVER FAX FROM REFERRING PHYSICIAN
    • CONTACT REFERRING PHYSICIANS OFFICE AFTER PATIENT’S APPOINTMENT HAS BEEN SCHEDULED
    • MAKE NOTE IN PATIENT CHART IF PATIENT CANCELS UPCOMING APPOINTMENT
    • CONTACT REFERRING PHYSICIAN IF THEIR PATIENT CANCELS
    • SCHEDULE VNG’S AND HAVE PATIENT SIGN CANCELLATION POLICY LOG AFTER EXPLAINGING THE POLICY
    • CHECK THE DAILY TOTALS ON THE CREDIT CARD TERMINAL AND IN THE HF SYSTEM TO VERIFY ALL PAYMENTS WERE ENTERED AND POSTED CORRECTLY.
    • PUT PHONES ON SERVICE AT THE END OF THE DAY
    • MAKE SURE ALL DOORS AND CABINETS ARE LOCKED BEFORE LEAVING FOR THE NIGHT

Requirements:

  • 4 year degree required
  • 1-3 years of experience at the minimum
  • Excellent communication skills – both verbal and written
  • Microsoft Office Proficient
  • Interpersonal skills
  • Able to multi-task
