This position is strictly temporary (3-6 months)
Responsible for environmental, health and safety compliance for the EKNA facility. This includes the coordination and management of company policies and documents adhering to local, state and federal environmental, health and safety regulations.
Read, interpret and ensure compliance with all current applicable federal and state environmental, health and safety regulations and accurately prepare all necessary records, reports and documents (includes OSHA, EPA, ISO, DHEC, ReWa, and shareholder internal controls). (25% of the time)
Coordinate and facilitate site EHS programs including internal documentation, job safety analysis, risk assessments, emergency response, first aid and employee training, safety audits, and maintain current crisis management plans, the MSDS system and all related EHS systems and employee programs. Oversee and implement training programs and written policies/procedures about employee safety, PPE, accident prevention and protection. (25% of the time)
Actively support all facility EHS communication efforts, committees, programs, teams and events and assist with positively motivating others to participate. (10% of the time)
Manage, grow and creatively energize the safety behavior based program which includes tracking all audit activities and participation levels for the facility. Works closely with other interested parties (such as shareholders, other EK facilities and local interest groups) to align and respect similar requirements and EHS values. (25% of the time)
Maintain, expand and improve the 6S system and other lean manufacturing principles as directed. (15% of the time)
Educational and Related Experience:
Education (Required to perform this job): Minimum of two years of formal education.
Related Experience (Required to perform this job): Minimum of 1-2 years previous work experience in an environmental, health or safety related position, preferable in manufacturing.
Special Training (Preferred to perform this job): Knowledge and experience in: root cause analysis, internal investigations, OSHA, EPA, crisis management, risk assessment, RCRA, behavioral safety, DHEC.
Ability to read, write and speak clearly in front of groups of all levels. Excellent interpersonal skills and flexibility to modify one’s communication style.
Comprehension and application of complex technical and legal documents.
Able to manage multiply projects and prioritize assigned tasks. Excellent organizational and self-management skills.
Willingness to adjust personal work schedule to accommodate all shifts ; able to travel if needed.
Works and behaves in ways that are consistent with company and shareholder values. Demonstrates and leads by example as subject matter of Behavioral Based Safety.
Can work with a high sense of urgency and confidentiality as it relates to personal, employee and group safety. Ability to remain calm in a crisis situation and direct others as needed.
Required to wear appropriate PPE, may require long periods of time at a desk and computer, exposure to production floor, glass, and nose, standing walking, stooping, bending and reaching.
