Human Resource Generalist

Job Description

We are seeking a Human Resource and Safety Specialist to join a successful Spokane based HVAC company. This is a new position for the company so we need someone that is highly motivated and open to learning and growing with the company.

 

Duties include:

Compensation and Benefits:

• Maintain performance, pay and training schedules for all staff

• Ensure current records on medical insurance, worker’s compensation, unemployment claims, 401k information, etc. • Provide benefits administration including the annual benefit renewal process with health insurance broker and open enrollment with employees

• Explain benefits to staff and assist with enrollment and filing claims Training and Development:

• Design and conduct orientation for new staff

• Assist managers with designing on-the-job training, as needed

• Issue and update employment policy manuals for staff Effective Employee Relations:

• Ensure records of performance evaluations are kept

• Assist managers with implementation and documentation of disciplinary action

• Assist managers with responding/investigating employee complaints and grievances

• Manage the employee termination process, conduct exit interviews, and respond to unemployment claims

 

Recruitment and Selection:

• Work with managers to determine job descriptions and qualifications for open positions

 • Post and/or advertise open positions and recruit pool of qualified applicants

• Screen applicants, schedule interviews, conduct interviews, assist hiring managers in the selection process, and extend offer letters Onboarding Process:

• Prepare and process new hire paperwork according to federal and state laws, including I-9 documentation and W-4 filing

• Manage drug and background screening process Safety Management:

• Evaluate, assess, and update safety procedures and policies to ensure worker safety and compliance with all regulatory bodies and standards

• Prepare and conduct safety training sessions, documenting employee participation

• Conduct injury and incident inquiries, evaluations, and prepare recommendations for incident prevention

• Oversee training and safety inspections on personnel, material and equipment

• Responsible for OSHA record-keeping and Worker’s Compensation incidents and reports to Labor & Industries
