Technical Process Writer

Well-established, expanding electronics manufacturer based in Chico, CA is in search of a Technical Process Writer for this Full-Time, Direct-Hire position. This key role develops, writes, and edits internal documentation used to create and revise manufacturing process instructions from initial user specs to final product delivery. If you have solid administrative (clerical) skills, an understanding of production processes (from receipt of order through delivery of product), technical writing ability and enjoy collaborating with personnel at all levels of an organization, we need to talk!

Job Description


  • Observe production, technician and engineering activities and interview associated personnel to become familiar with manufacturing techniques in order to write process instructions
  • Interpret blueprints, drawings, parts lists, specifications, first articles, and company publications to integrate procedures and outline detail for internal publications
  • Create and use CAD drawings, diagrams, photographs, and charts to integrate instructions and operating procedures that will assist in the understanding of the documentation by associated personnel
  • Review existing publications and recommend necessary revisions
  • Use internal database (ERP) to enter data, maintain records and files of work and revisions, and document work performed as required
  • Follow and meet ISO goals


  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • Demonstrated proficiency with MSOffice (Word and Excel)
  • An understanding of production processes- from receipt of order through delivery of product
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to present information within all levels of the organization
  • Effective organizational skills – ability to manage time and prioritize workload, follow through with tasks to make sure they are complete and done correctly, completely and accurately
  • Capable of learning and understanding basic electronics
  • Contingent upon post-offer criminal background check and drug screen


  • Experience with ERP systems and Engineering changes
  • Knowledge of electronics
  • Familiar with Lean principles, 5S, and related continuous improvement processes
  • CAD programming
  • Flexibility and willingness to learn new skills and step out of comfort zone, welcoming new challenges to go above and beyond to support the team and goals of the organization
