Office Assistant

Office Assistant $15-$20 per hour. Chico, CA. Our client is an established Commercial Subcontractor with construction projects throughout Northern California. The firm’s reputation and continual growth are driving the need to hire additional full-time administrative staff. Under the supervision of the office manager, the Office Assistant will assist in a variety of tasks critical to the internal operation of the business. Over time and with training, this position offers significant advancement opportunity for a high-performing office assistant to grow into an increasingly responsible role within the company. Job Description

RESPONSIBLILITIES

The Office Assistant will be responsible for providing support to the office manager in a variety of tasks including:

  • Managing project contracts and their requirement
  • Managing prevailing wage contracts
  • Assisting with payroll (including taxes & liabilities) and retirement benefits
  • Onboarding new employees and managing associated employment documentation according to state & federal guidelines
  • Assisting with A/P & A/R

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Experience/Education/Skills

Previous office experience including:

  • Working knowledge of standard office equipment (PC’s, facsimile machines, scanners, 10-key, etc.)
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Experience creating, formatting, and typing documents
  • Minimum keyboard speed of 30 wpm net
  • Customer interaction
  • Professional communication skills including: answering telephones, composing emails, written, and verbal communication
  • Maintaining and updating documents, contracts, or records and ensuring their accuracy
  • High School diploma or equivalent

  • Ability and desire to interact and communicate effectively with a variety of personalities at all levels of the organization
  • A positive attitude when working in intensely busy time frames
  • Motivated with the ambition and willingness to learn, not afraid to ask questions
  • Ability to work with sensitive information and understand the importance of confidentiality

Additional Requirements

  • Favorable, verifiable work references
  • Ability to pass post-offer drug test

JOB STATUS:   Full-time, Hourly, Non-Exempt

WORK HOURS:   M-F 7:30m-4pm

COMPENSATION:   Starting pay $15 - $20 per hour (commensurate with experience)

BENEFITS INCLUDE:

  • Paid Holidays: 7
  • Paid Sick Leave: 24 hours (3 days)
