Job Description

As a Facilities Technician, you will use your skills to support the Facilities Maintenance Team in repairing and maintaining utilities and infrastructure throughout the building and grounds. While working under the supervision of the Facilities Maintenance Manager, you will have the opportunity to install, maintain and repair infrastructure used by equipment in all aspects of dairy product production. At times you will have the opportunity to assist the Production Maintenance team or outside contractors.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Respond to facility requests for immediate attention to all issues.
  • Perform maintenance repair work in one or more of the following areas: electrical, plumbing, HVAC, carpentry, wastewater, and/or paint.
  • Perform preventative and corrective maintenance on facilities systems
  • Install or repair various facilities infrastructure equipment and support equipment including ductwork, piping, pumps, and wiring.
  • Document inspections and maintain records of preventative maintenance.
  • Plan and execute other skilled mechanical or electrical services as necessary.
  • Perform utility and structural repairs
  • Manage time to effectively complete all facilities requests in a timely manner and in the order by which they were received or by level of urgency
  • Maintain a current and in-depth knowledge of all safety and sanitation policies and standards related to the position
  • Work in a safe manner and recognize unsafe situations, take appropriate action to ensure safety of self and others


  • 2 years of work experience in general electrical, plumbing, carpentry, painting, mechanical repair, or HVAC
  • 2-year certificate from college/technical school a plus
  • Knowledge of steam boiler systems
  • Previous dairy/food experience helpful
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as maintenance/manufacturing manuals and blueprints
  • Ability to use electrical and electronic test instruments
  • Ability to use hand tools and trades type tools (Must supply own hand tools)
  • Working knowledge of wastewater systems
