Property & Casualty Claims Examiner - Primary job functions include analyzing claims and coverage, along with evaluating, negotiating, and settling claims submitted by policyholders.

The successful candidate will:

• Have knowledge of Property and Casualty insurance policy language.
• Be able to read coverage forms and make sound decisions regarding coverage.
• Be organized and able to work independently, taking initiative to make independent decisions.

Responsibilities:

• Review new claim losses and policy to determine coverage.
• Contact insureds, claimants and others to discuss details of claim.
• Request needed documentation for claims handling.
• Communicate with insureds and others the basis for loss determination.
• Negotiate settlements and approve payments.
• Draft tender of defense (or work with defense counsel) to tender to others and follow up on tenders.

Requirements:

• 2+ years' P&C Claims Examiner experience in Commercial Lines
• Bachelor’s degree
• An equivalent combination of education and experience will also be considered
• Professional insurance designation preferred (i.e. AIC, CPCU, AU, ARM or similar equivalent)

Salary Range:

•  $56k - $80k annually, depending on experience.
