Third Shift Machine Operator Job Description Title Machine Operator Department(s) Production Reports to Shift Supervisor Job summary Perform at a standard necessary to insure the production of quality parts in a timely manner. Work to maintain a clean and safe work place. Summary of essential job functions and minimum requirements 1.     Attendance and general policies ·       Be at your assigned work area at least 5 minutes before the prior shift ends. You are to communicate with the person who has been working in the area. ·       You must punch out for lunch and punch back in before returning to your press. ·       You are expected to work a minimum of a 40 hour week unless you have scheduled time off or there is a holiday in that week. ·       You are expected to clean up after yourself in the lunch room, bathroom, cafeteria, and your work area before you leave. 2.     Quality ·       Quality is everybody’s responsibility and it starts with you. Please be aware of the quality of the parts that you put in the boxes. ·       Look closely at the parts coming from the press and verify that the parts are acceptable. Look for flash, splay, burn, shorts, sinks or contamination, etc. 3.     Production ·       You are to read and follow all work instructions and or packaging instructions pertaining to the job you are assigned. ·       Make sure that that you understand the box and skid quantities as well as all labels are in compliance with the work order and packaging instructions. ·       If working in an area where the production rate is controlled by you rather than by a machine cycle, you are responsible to meet the production rate requirements. 4.     Safety ·       You are to wear personal protective equipment at all times designated by the Supervisor. This includes safety glasses, hearing, protectors, etc. ·       You are to report any possible unsafe conditions to the Supervisor immediately. 5. Education and experience ·        High school diploma or equivalent preferred ·        Some prior production experience preferred
