Human Resources Division Manager

The Human Resources Division Manager plans, directs, implements, and oversees all human resources functions across the division including benefits administration, compliance to state and federal laws, employee relations, recruiting, employee engagement, workers compensation, and ensuring consistent application of policies and procedures across multi-plant locations. Directs the activities of 1 to 3 employees in the Human Resources Department. Carries out leadership responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies, mission, vision, core values and applicable laws.

Human Resources Division Manager

Location: Columbia, SC

Pay: Commensurate upon experience

Start: ASAP; this is a Direct Hire Opportunity


    • Develops and implements human resources department roles and responsibilities to accommodate the needs of the business. Recognizes and adjusts the department’s roles as necessary to align with current business strategies.
    • Ensures that all policies and procedures comply with multi-state and federal laws.
    • Responsible for coordinating all recruiting efforts across the division.
    • Accountable for actively measuring and organizing all activities related to increasing employee engagement.
    • Responsible for benefit administration and leave.
    • Maintains paygrades and positions for each branch plant including conducting research of local market rates for positions to assess relationship to organization compensation plan.
    • Implements communications systems to ensure all employees have access to consistent and accurate information in a timely manner.
    • Provides guidelines and oversees performance reviews and training.
    • Manages employee relations and actively works to resolve conflict and employee issues. Advises management of appropriate resolution of employee relations issues as necessary.
    • Stays informed regarding union organizing activities in similar industries and in geographic area, and works proactively to implement union avoidance strategies.
    • Conducts regularly scheduled meetings with human resources staff to exchange information and provide ongoing support and problem resolution.
    • Directs development and maintenance of human resources information systems to ensure record keeping and reporting requirements are accurate and timely.
    • Analyzes company trends, including but not limited to turnover, hiring, promotions, and separations to determine support or action needed to adjust unfavorable trends.
    • Prepares and maintains employee handbook.
    • Interface as necessary with local, state and federal agencies.


    • Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year college or university; and 10 to 15 years related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
    • To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Human Resource systems (KRONOS preferred) and Microsoft Office.
    • Human Resources Certification (PHR/SPHR) desirable.
    • Ability to travel 10-25% depending on business needs.
