Employee Benefits Coordinator

Job Description


  • Using multiple payroll, HR, and benefits platforms, the Employee Benefits Coordinator will:
    • Enter, maintain, and manage employee benefits data (group insurance, health, life, cafeteria plans, workers comp, etc.)
    • Analyse employee data (hire dates, termination dates, job status) and communicate with internal departments ensuring accuracy of employee benefits activation and termination dates
    • Analyse and reconcile insurance invoices and benefits expenses, ensuring benefits assigned to individual employees are accurate
    • Provide multiple reports to internal departments and external clients Respond to employee inquiries regarding benefits, changes in their job status, claim issues
  • Assist internal departments with inquiries or issues regarding employee information or claims issues
  • Assist external employees with inquiries, changes to benefits status, issues regarding employee information or claims issues


  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Min. 2 years' experience in a business office
  • A unique combination of analytical and interpersonal skills while interacting with internal departments and external employees including:
    • Solid analytical and reconciliation skills
    • Proficient in MSWord and Excel
    • Proficiency in learning and utilizing various software programs and databases to manage information and generate reports: HRIS, benefits, payroll, and database programs Adaptability - ability to pause and adjust attention to respond to the acute needs of employees or internal departments
    • Inquisitive attitude - possess the drive to learn, not afraid to ask questions, the ability to learn from past mistakes and build upon that knowledge
    • Proactive - ability to look ahead and anticipate changes or potential activities that may require action
    • Solid interpersonal skills - ability to respond to and address inquiries/issues with professionalism, empathy, and patience
    • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively within a team AND possess a self-motivating style which after appropriate training can work independently
  • Contingent upon favorable and verifiable professional references
  • Contingent upon post-offer criminal background check


  • HR, payroll, or employee benefits knowledge
